"St. Matthias Middle School from the Northwest," a print after H. Fischer Oels, an etching from the Lichtenberg edition (published ca. 1900). Print measuring 22.7 x 31 cm (impression), on cardboard. Inscribed in pencil beneath the impression: “etching—II 12/22—EwaPurzycka 2003.” The collection of the National Museum in Wrocław includes a similar print made in 1971 at the State Higher School of Fine Arts in Wrocław.
Helma Fischer-Oels (1860–70–1930) was a Silesian printmaker associated with Oleśnica and Wrocław. She likely studied art in Wrocław. She was a member of the Association of Silesian Women Artists. She is the author of numerous etchings depicting views of Oleśnica, Wrocław, and its surroundings, published, among others, in Wrocław by B. Richter and B. Wenzel, and in Oleśnica by the Rösch publishing house, including as postcards. Her works depicting Baltic Sea cities (Gdańsk, Hamburg, Greifswald) are also well known.
