A mythological scene depicting two satyrs (forest deities with goat legs) and a goat. One satyr is dancing, while the other is playing the flute or a trumpet.
The work is characterized by simplified, fluid lines and vivid, flat colors, typical of Picasso’s later style and the linocut technique, which required bold cuts.Picasso even had a goat named Esmeralda, whom he adored and who often served as a muse for his works, as can be seen in this depiction.
Pablo Ruiz Picasso—a Spanish painter, sculptor, draftsman, printmaker, ceramicist, and poet—is considered one of the most outstanding artists of the 20th century. Together with Georges Braque, he founded the Cubist movement in painting.
