STANISŁAW I Leszczyński (1677–1766), King of Poland and Duke of Lorraine.
"Stanislas, by the Grace of God, King of Poland...".
Manuscript on parchment, in French. Dated at Lunéville, January 28, 1749, with the king’s handwritten signature: “Stanislas Roy.” Wax seal on a parchment strip. Dimensions: 25 × 54 cm.
The document dates from the time when Stanisław Leszczyński, after two reigns as King of Poland (1705–1709 and 1733–1736), was forced to abdicate the Polish crown and settle in France as the Duke of Lorraine and Bar. In Lunéville, he built a magnificent palace that is one of the most interesting baroque structures in the world. Folded parchment, traces of dirt and stains, seal with missing parts, partially damaged. Good condition.
