"Liar" belongs to the ongoing sculptural series "Ecce Homo", in which objects - wooden figurations reach out to the sacrum - the primordial, permanent, eternal and unchanging aspects of human existence. It is a contemporary nod to tradition, emphasizing the importance and value of the legacy of the old masters - not allowing to forget. The sculpture is built from small, "basic" symbols. "Liar" is suspended naked in a strange, mystical space, revealing his human nature from the front. He enchants, promises and assures himself of something with a sacralizing gesture. The mysticism of the situation is accentuated by the 24-carat gold placed in place of his head, giving the impression that the figure is talking about something extremely important. We don't know her fully, we won't look her in the face, nevertheless it prompts us to trust. The structure on which the figure is suspended resembles an element of the church "gloria" used for representations of Christ, or God the Father. The golden, soaring and delicate rays departing from the center, sanctifying the symbol or figure, have been transformed into steel, brutal, rusty rods aimed at the center of the composition, undermining the "sacred truth" for which, after all, the figure vouches with his whole self. Looking at the "Liar" from behind, we see a gesture that unequivocally unmasks him.
...trust with caution.
