Teodor TALOWSKI (1857-1910)
Architect and painter. He began his architectural studies in Vienna under K. Konig and graduated in Lviv under J. Zachariewicz. His architectural work was eclectic in nature, combining elements of Art Nouveau, Historicism and Modernism. The buildings of his design are characterized by freedom in the creation of spatial arrangements, irregular projections, asymmetry, use of chiaroscuro effects and complex interior layouts. He is considered one of the most important Polish architects of the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Less well known is Talowski's painting work, he painted mainly watercolors with architectural motifs, which he exhibited at TPSP in Krakow.
