Jan RUBCZAK (1884-1942)
Painter and printmaker, 1904-11 student at the Academy of Fine Arts in Cracow in the studio of Cynk and Pankiewicz. He continued his studies in Leipzig and Paris, where he ran his own graphic design school from 1917. After returning to Cracow, he ran the Free School of Painting and was also an assistant at the chair of graphic arts at the Academy of Fine Arts. He exhibited a lot and took part in the Paris Salons. He painted landscapes, decorative still lifes and often used watercolor. He died in 1942 in Auschwitz.
