Against a brown background that lightens to the right, standing on a panel, a shiny metal vase with a mascaron and a sculpturally worked putto; within it the towering, magnificent floral arrangement, including roses, lilies, peonies, bindweed, tulips and irises. The painting is of refined elegance and has an impasto and clear, brilliant color palette, in which the right side of the flowers is in shadow due to the incidence of light from the left. Prof. Cottino considers the painting to be a mature work by the artist. (1410162) (3) (18)
