AUSTRIAN MASTER (17/18TH CENTURY) , The Visitation: The Meeting of Mary and Elizabeth

A sophisticated and emotionally resonant 17t/18h-century composition by an Austrian Master, this work depicts the biblical scene of the Visitation. The painting captures the intimate moment of recognition between the Virgin Mary and her cousin Elizabeth, rendered with a remarkable balance of Baroque dynamism and Northern European sensitivity.
The artist demonstrates a profound mastery of light and form, particularly evident in the complex, rhythmic folds of the drapery. The deep lapis-blue of the Virgin's mantle contrasts beautifully with the warm, earthy tones of Elizabeth's attire, creating a rich coloristic harmony. The architectural setting, featuring a classical plinth and a distant, atmospheric landscape, provides a sense of monumental scale and depth. Oil on canvas, 116 x 66 cm
