Adolf Schuch (born June 16, 1792; died December 1, 1880, in Warsaw), a participant in the November Uprising and a lieutenant in an artillery battery of the National Guard. In January 1831, he was appointed vice president of insurgent Warsaw. The painting was created in the 1820s as a graduation project during his studies in Paris. It is the only known example of his painting.
