Ignacy ZYGMUNTOWICZ
1875 Warsaw -1947 Warsaw
He was a self-taught painter. In 1911 he enrolled in the School of Fine Arts in Warsaw, but nothing further is known about his studies. It is possible that in 1913-17 he attended the studio of W. Kossak, for whom he later prepared sub-paintings for paintings in the early 1920s. In his works he was inspired, both formally and in the subject matter he undertook, by the paintings of Polish Munich painters Alfred Wierusz-Kowalski, Jozef Brandt and Jozef Chelmonski. He painted hunting scenes, unleashed sleds, travel accidents, sleds, as well as battle scenes.
