Hans Dressler (1869 -1942) Breslau painter associated with his city throughout his artistic life. He graduated from the Royal School of Arts and Crafts in Breslau and the Munich Academy of Fine Arts. His work clearly referred to the work of his Father Adolf, a prominent turn-of-the-century German landscape and animalist. After returning from Munich, he established his own painting school in Breslau, and from 1921 he lived and worked in a studio built on the grounds of the Breslau zoo, drawing inspiration for his compositions from the surrounding animals. His landscapes, usually like the one on display, are popular, enriched with animal figures rendered in nature with a keen sense of observation and naturalistic representation.
Signed on the lower right "HDressler".
