signed, dated and described on the back: Mariusz Woszczynski | 2017 | Beach, Boulevard | acrylic, gouache, ecoline
Mariusz Woszczynski's painting is a reflection on perception. The representation on a flat surface of what is happening in time and space is a problem that has troubled artists for centuries. Woszczynski takes into account different perspectives and different ways of painterly notation. The very title "Beach, Boulevard" indicates the lack of unity of place and unity of time. The composition is simultaneous, and simultaneity refers not only to what takes place before the eyes of the observer/artist, but also to what happens in his mind. The painter, while looking, translates what is seen into formal solutions. "I have two strong fascinations. - reveals the artist - One is related to thinking about a painting image. It concerns the observation of light, the search for sign, sound, wholeness, diversity of matter. The other concerns, filtered through the eye of the draftsman, the reality of everyday life. It is the observation of nature with its particles, elements and fragments, observation of the pulse of life, human behavior, situations happening around us, defining moments of the magma of reality."
