oil on cardboard, 30 x 24 cm, unsigned.
On the back a confirmation of authenticity handwritten by Wojciech Kossak's granddaughter Gloria: "Study of leopard skin, work | late my grandfather Wojciech Kossak | GKossak" and stamp "MUZEUM-DOM PAMIĄTEK | "KOSSAKÓWKA" | Krakow, Plac Kossaka 4".
Wojciech Kossak, one of the most famous Polish battle painters, paid great attention to details, elements of armament and historical accuracy. The presented study most likely served him as a preparation for painting compositions of the army of Jan III Sobieski (cf. "Sobieski at Vienna", 1925, MNP, "Hetman Żółkiewski with Hussars", 1936, MNW).
