Biography
One of the most important French visual artists of the 20th century. Considered a co-founder of Cubism, alongside Pablo Picasso. He studied, among other places, at the École des Beaux-Arts. Early in his career, he painted under the influence of Impressionism, gradually drawing more and more on the achievements of Paul Cézanne. After the end of World War I, the artist also concluded his period of creating Cubist paintings and collages—which at times bordered on abstraction—and returned to figurative art while expanding the color palette of his works.
