Marian Mokwa (1889 - 1987). Thoroughly educated in German academies (Munich, Berlin, Nuremberg), this painter is known primarily as a marine painter. His oeuvre, however, was more varied, especially during the interwar period. He traveled extensively, and during World War I served as a painter-correspondent in the Prussian army. This early period of his work consists mainly of watercolors. This period is also completely unrecognized, almost all early works were destroyed by World War II. All the more interesting are the two works on display from 1916, absolutely unique on the market, and testifying to Mokwa's great proficiency as a landscape painter in the difficult technique of watercolor. Despite the large number of works created in the post-war period, which are very popular among Collectors - the two works from 1916 have almost museum value and are an important contribution to the knowledge of the beginnings of his artistic path.
