oil, canvas, 65 × 92 cm
Signed and dated p. d.: "25/Wlodz Terlikowski"
"Thanks to his personality as an expressionist [the artist] gave us new visions of the countries he met. A colorist, at times restrained, at other times generous, he constructed images with broad, quick strokes, without any concession to fashion. In the line of great artists, Vladimir Terlikovsky is one of the masters of contemporary figurative art."
Galerie Bernheim-Jeune, 1974, quoted in A. Czarnocka, "Strength and Life. Włodzimierz Terlikowski (1873-1951). Paintings", [exhibition cat.], Polish Library in Paris, 2012, p. 22.
