Piotr Smogór—in his paintings, he combines figurative compositions with landscape. For the purposes of his art, he coined the term “figurative landscape,” which expresses the integration of the human figure into the surrounding reality of the urban landscape and nature. His paintings reveal the interpenetration of planes and temporal layers, thereby depicting stories of human corporeality alongside the limitations of its nature and aberration as a transgression of cultural norms. He does not shy away from controversial topics. The “body” series, completed several years ago, reflects his interest in the clash between physicality and objectivity—understood as a solid form subject to the simple laws of nature. She is also interested in the relationships that occur within a painting between color and line, resulting in expressive, small, sketch-like forms painted in acrylic or watercolor. She travels frequently, takes photographs, and sketches outdoors, drawing inspiration for her works from these experiences. Her latest series of paintings, provisionally titled *simple_objects*, reveals more of nature; it features simplifications and the masking of elements, so that the subject of the work is often a hidden place, as if negated or left unsaid. Her youthful fascination with astrology and light comes to the fore in her latest series of nighttime landscapes from the surrounding area, in which we see constellations symbolically revealed by masking the background. He has recently been living near Wrocław and is preparing for an exhibition.
He has participated in numerous group exhibitions, including two editions of the WPA International Art Festival and the OSTEN Biennial of Drawing in Skopje.
