Norman Leto, born in 1980 in Bochnia, is a self-taught artist, video art creator and painter. His debut was an exhibition at the Center for Contemporary Art in Warsaw, "Negative Aspects of Excessive Freedom at the Age of 26" in 2007. At the same time, he collaborated with director Krystian Lupa on the theatrical play "Factory Two" and prepared his first 3D film "Buttes Monteaux l". His works also include the film "Sailor" (2010) and "Photon" (2017). Notable solo and group exhibitions include Jeune création européene, Paris 2007; Perfect Summer, New Media Artists, Gallery Vertexlist, New York 2008; Streets & Other Interiors, lokal_30 at ZOO Art Fairs, London 2009; Buttes Monteaux 3, National Museum, Krakow 2009; SAILOR, film premiere, 10th Era New Horizons International Film Festival 2009. He was ranked second in the Compass of Young Art (2010/2011). He dropped out of high school and took up printmaking and painting, followed by new media and video. His work is based on artificial intelligence algorithms, his projects balancing between art and science. He began his artistic career as a painter. The paintings he creates are often portraits of loved ones, situations that engage him emotionally, existential challenges, and intellectual challenges. He paints quickly, based on photographs, nature or video frames. His paintings recall the works of William Bouguereau or Thomas Gainsborough. He is the author of films, the diptych Sailor (a novel and a feature-length film, described by the British weekly Tribune as "the best and most surprising independent debut of the festival" (Era New Horizons) and his latest film Photon, premiering 2017. He is the winner of the Passports of Polityka in the category of visual arts (2018) In the same year he received the Grand Prix of the Koszalin Debut Film Festival "Youth and Film" for the film Photon. In 2018, you could observe his exhibitions entitled. "Kinotop. From the film" (Kalisz); "Go and see" (Zabrze); "Non-existent exhibition spaces" (Katowice). In 2019, he received the Andrzej Munk Award (honorable mention for Photon). His latest exhibition in 2019, "Problems of the First World: Life Before Death," was held at the Roundabout of Art in Katowice.
