Wanda GENTIL-TIPPENHAUER

Polish painter, writer, lover of the Tatra Mountains and skiing. She studied at the School of Fine Arts in Hamburg, and at the end of World War I came to Warsaw, where in 1921 she graduated from the State Courses for Teachers of Drawings at the SSP under Karol Tiche. From 1921 to 1923 she studied at the Kunstgewerbeschule in Hamburg. She traveled throughout Europe (Italy, France, Switzerland and Germany) and the USA. Since 1925, she exhibited mainly at the Warsaw Society for the Encouragement of Fine Arts and also in Bydgoszcz, Zakopane, Lyon, Milan and Turin.During the war in Warsaw, she taught drawing at clandestine classes. After the war, she took part in almost all exhibitions of ZPAP in Zakopane. She painted with watercolor and tempera stylized landscapes with Tatra motifs and genre scenes from Podhale. Sometimes she painted flowers and religious paintings. She also did glass painting, wall painting, batik and interior design.
