Stanislaw Wisniewski was a respected Polish artist, known for his many years of creative activity in the fields of painting, drawing and sculpture, as well as for his active participation in the Krakow artistic community; he graduated from the High School of Fine Arts in Sędziszów Małopolski, and then studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Krakow in the studios of prominent professors: Zbigniew Pronaszko and Zygmunt Radnicki.
His work bears traces of the influence of "Cracow colorism," a style characterized by an intense use of color and light, which was evident in some of his works. The artist received his diploma in 1960.
Stanislaw Wisniewski was a long-time member of the Union of Polish Artists (ZPAP) and creator and animator of the "Arkady" gallery, operating at the Cracow Art Exhibition Office (BWA). As an organizer and participant in many exhibitions, his works were presented both in Poland and abroad, which brought him recognition and popularity.
Wisniewski has won numerous prizes and awards for his artistic achievements, including the B.W. Linke Award, the Award of the City of Cracow and the Honorary Award of the Polish Art Foundation. In 2010, he was awarded the "Honoris Gratia" badge for his contributions to Krakow and its artistic community.
Stanislaw Wisniewski was an artist with versatile interests, dedicated to art until the end of his life. His oeuvre includes painting, drawing and sculpture, and his work is an important part of Polish contemporary art. He died on March 24, 2016 and was buried in the Alley of the Distinguished at Rakowiecki Cemetery in Krakow.
