Acrylic, canvas; 100 x 50 cm
Signed on the back: Sebastian Kotkowski
Polish painter and draughtsman, graduate of the Academy of Fine Arts in Cracow, where he studied painting under Prof. Rodziński and drawing under Prof. Białas, graduating with honors. His work, rooted in the tradition of the Cracow school of colorists, evolved from figurative cityscapes to metaphorical compositions with a symbolic and cabalistic dimension.
Kotkowski developed a distinctive style in which strong, expressive colors are combined with a poetic vision of reality. In his paintings, the world of the artist's inner experiences merges with external reality, creating multi-layered compositions with a strong emotional charge. A special place in his oeuvre is occupied by the cycles "Erotics and Symbols" - where he depicted human relationships in symbolic shorthand, and "My Masters" - a tribute to the professors of the Academy of Fine Arts. His work, combining mastery of technique with depth of message, occupies an important place in Polish contemporary art.
The artist has actively participated in artistic life, holding exhibitions in prestigious spaces such as the Branicki Palace in Bialystok, Zachęta in Czestochowa and the Hera gallery - his own exhibition space in his hometown. His works, also exhibited abroad (including in Vilnius), are in private and institutional collections in Poland and the United States.
