Biography
Between 1995 and 2001 a student at the Academy of Fine Arts in Gdansk at the Faculty of Graphic Arts and Painting. In 2001 he received a diploma with distinction in the studio of Prof. Hugo Lasecki. Piotr Bąkowski is an "urban painter." The city is the subject of his works and an inspiration in terms of technique - he consciously adopts urban strategies to his paintings: stencils, vlepki, graffiti, murals. Piotr Bąkowski looks at the city primarily as an artificial paradise - of sensations, impulses, emotions. He feels the intensity of sensations, the speed of life, the multiplicity of fords. In his works Piotr Bąkowski is not "cool", he succumbs to emotions and violence. He denies previously acquired workshop skills, seeks freedom of expression, his own means. All this to make his message pure and clear.
