Oleg Grunzovsky (1950-2021) - painter. He is a regular participant in international events and national exhibitions. His works are in private collections in Ukraine, and abroad.
The artist's work is steeped in archaic simplicity, laconicism, symbolism, traditions of religious art (icons) and folk art (the so-called "lupki"), combining a kind of primitivism of stylized forms with a unique play of color and light. The figures that live on Grunzowski's canvases - people, exotic animals, fish, fruits, plants.... - are, in a sense, the "Alchemy of Nature." The painting thus becomes a symbol of a lost paradise.
According to the author, his art requires both an attentive gaze and active interaction on the part of the viewer, since each painting is both a mysterious microcosm and a complex labyrinth. There are constantly unusual discoveries in his works, all thanks to numerous experiments with new techniques and technologies. "The human eye perceives 150 shades of color. Creatures such as frogs, chameleons and flounders adapt to their surroundings 150 times faster than we do. We have to rely on the alchemy of color." - explains the author's concept. - "For me, the chemical reaction of the image is very important, but in both cases the image is projected onto the retina and there is a thirst for unparalleled mystery!"
