Mikolaj Malesza (b. 1954, Krynki)
Born in 1954 in Krynki. Studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw at the Faculty of Interior Design. He received his diploma with honors in 1979. He is involved in painting and theatrical scenography.He paints landscapes, group portraits, genre scenes, and depicts a world bordering on the grotesque, fantasy and reality. He has had more than a dozen solo exhibitions, including in Warsaw, Bialystok, Wroclaw, Amsterdam. He participated in dozens of exhibitions of Polish painting at home and abroad, including: Germany, France, Belgium, Holland, England, Czechoslovakia, Italy, Austria, USA, Japan. He received several awards and prizes, including: second prize at the XXXVIII National Winter Salon of Fine Arts in Radom (1984) and third prize at the XII National J. Spychalski Painting Competition in Poznan (1987). He has more than twenty stage designs to his credit, including for most of the Wierszalin Theater's productions. He has won many stage design awards, and together with the Wierszalin Theater, he received the Fringe First award three times at the largest European Theater Festival in Edinburgh.
