Biography
He studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw from 1975 to 1980 in Stefan Gierowski’s studio. In the early 1980s, he painted abstract, multicolored compositions consisting of repetitive elements or simplified, synthetic natural forms. In 1983, he joined the Grupa art collective, participating in nearly all of its events and co-editing its magazine *Oj dobrze już*, in which he published numerous theoretical essays. In the early 1980s, he painted works referencing martial law (Gandzia, 1983), while also taking up the “Native American” theme—characteristic of that era and artistic circle—as a contemporary metaphor. In addition to painting, the artist creates installations and spatial objects. He writes theoretical and literary texts.
