Katarzyna Januszko was born in communist Poland, where she spent her childhood. She first moved to Africa with her parents, and then to London, where she studied at the Camberwell College of Art there and lived for twenty years. Now she creates and lives in Poland, but has also built a house in Egypt, where she often stays to maintain contact with a different culture. The experience of living in different environments has shaped the artist's perception of the world and is a constant inspiration for her creative work. The artist has developed her own mono-printing technique, in which she works with pigment, cellulose and found steel elements. Her work explores issues of space, nature and the environment. The dominant themes are displacement, transgression and transience. For several decades, the artist has presented her work in solo and group exhibitions in Poland and abroad, and her works are in numerous private collections.
