Provenance:
collection of the artist's family
This artist's landscape of the Polish countryside cannot be predictable and bland. Even if it exudes idyllic tranquility, pure delight in nature, as in the presented view from the village of Berest, a note of melancholy is also noticeable. The distinctive brushstroke, makes the painting seem far from realistic precision. A willow tree, vast strips of meadows and fields, a grove - these are subtle, painterly impressions. Typical of the artist, the painting bears a signature, number and date of creation, as well as an author's sticker. Duda-Gracz was careful to describe his works. Another asset of the composition is its excellent provenance. From plein-air locations in Brzegi or Łagów also come charming landscapes, which are sometimes an interesting contrast to the elaborate figural compositions so prominently present in the artist's oeuvre. In 1994, the year of this work, the painter took up the post of professor at Silesian University in Katowice. A year earlier he celebrated 25 years of creative work.
