Yarek Godfrey or Yarek Godfrey OW, owned by Jaroslaw Pawel Nowicki, was born in 1957 in Olsztyn, died tragically in 2014 in Paris. He graduated from the State Comprehensive School of Fine Arts in Cracow, followed by studies at the painting department of the Cracow Academy of Fine Arts and postgraduate studies in landscape and costume design in Cracow. Godrey's work is dominated by classical motifs, and the forms are treated in a traydic manner, but his figures seem to emerge from nothingness - the artist deliberately left the paintings "unfinished. A wide variety of influences mix in the artist's alarship, from Pompeian frescoes to the art of Malczewski, but Godfrey was also inspired by mythology, nature and, above all, human sensuality and sexuality. His art is often qualified as "gothic classicism" or "magic realism."
