Biography
Henryk Kozakiewicz graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw in 1961 from the studio of Prof. K. Tomorowicz. Even as a student, he developed his own individual style, based on a unique interpretation of surrealism, and remained faithful to it throughout his creative career. He held several solo exhibitions—the first of which took place at the Debut Salon in 1966, and the next in Astrup, Denmark, two years later. At the same time, he exhibited in Denmark alongside “Group 7”—J. Raczko, J. Kubaszewski, and J. Kołacz—which also led to an exhibition of Danish surrealists in Poland. He participated in numerous exhibitions at Zachęta and the House of Visual Artists in Warsaw. He died suddenly in 1985, at the age of just 48.
