Subjective description of the painting:
Dan Jacobson's painting depicts the late Gothic interior architecture of St. Peter's Cathedral in Beauvais, France. In 1840, the cathedral was granted the status of a national cultural monument of France, and at all times ranks among the boldest achievements in Gothic architecture. Because of its unstable structure, constantly threatening to collapse, the cathedral building has been listed on World Monuments Watch's list of the most endangered monuments in the world. Inside the five-nave chancel, one's attention is drawn to the large number of columns supporting the high vaulted ceiling, narrow triforiums and very high windows that provide illumination to the temple's interior. Thanks to the different types of glass in the panes (tinted and transparent), an additional effect of light play on the stone interior design was achieved.

Construction of the cathedral began in 1225 with wildly ambitious intentions. For this reason, after 47 years of work, only the choir was ready. But what a choir! Its vault is 48 meters high. Until now, no cathedral has surpassed this achievement. The choir was impressive, but not durable enough. In 1284, part of the vault collapsed. However, the builders did not give up. They rebuilt the choir, but paying more attention to strengthening it. It still stands today and delights successive generations. It has even earned the nickname "Parthenon of French Gothic."

Dan Jacobson decided to appreciate this architectural gem in his work, but he wouldn't be himself if he didn't smuggle surreal motifs into the picture. The salamander is lifted by a stream of light, but is it usually light? It can't be ordinary, because its power is powerful, floating this amphibian. A lot of questions, and even more possible interpretations of the artist's vision. It all depends on your imagination....

About the Artist:
He graduated from Ecole Supérieure d'Arts Graphiques Estienne in Paris, his teachers were Albert Flocon and Jean Cluseau Lanauve. He then decided to devote himself to creating paintings. In addition to painting, he worked as an art director for major Parisian advertising agencies. The world of communication allowed me to go further and further in creativity, while all the time working on the evolution of my painting. Registered at the Maison des Artistes in Paris since 1976.

DAN JACOBSON AND MAXIREALISM - When the possible becomes reality.
It is an imaginary realist movement, a change from the present, past or future between two worlds that merge to create a believable virtuality. Physically anything is possible, the concrete dream towers over reality. Maxirealism departs from photographic realism, it is not static, but scenic, intimate or humorous.
Dan Jacobson created this movement at the Salon Comparaisons (Grand Palais in Paris) in 1995.

Excerpted from Arts Actualités Magazine by Harry Kampianne:
"His paintings express the possibility of the meeting of two completely opposite worlds, which can only be united by the power of dreams and perception. The right to dream becomes a reality. The standards of the reasonable are modified in favor of the unthinkable. Through his paintings and watercolors, Dan Jacobson leads us to other dimensions parallel to our present. Sometimes they amount to teleportation of the elemental. But they can also turn into a confrontation of two eras. Of course, the impossible becomes possible only when there are no more barriers. And that barrier is time. The artist gives us the key through imagination, which is more than reality. And this is Dan Jacobson's 'Paris'."
