Algimantas Švėgžda (1941-1996) Still life with fruit

Algimantas Švėgžda (1941-1996 ) - Lithuanian painter and graphic artist. In 1967 he graduated from the LSSR State Art Institute, where he studied painting. Since 1973 he participated in exhibitions. 1978-1981 - lecturer at the drawing department of the Vilnius Art Institute. From 1982, after a kidney transplant, he lived in Berlin until his death. His works are in Lithuanian and foreign museums and private collections. Algimantas Švėgždos' work "Still Life with Fruit", painted in 1979, is in the collection of the 40th ARS VIA auction. The members of the group depicted the world without embellishment. Since 1977, Švėgžda has been painting realistic-looking fragments of the everyday environment. His works are painted in a photorealistic manner, and are considered to be unparalleled and unique.
