Aleksandra Kowalczyk (b. 1987, Warsaw) Graduated from the Wojciech Gerson State High School of Fine Arts in Warsaw. Graduated (2011) from the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw at the Faculty of Painting, in the studio of Prof. Leon Tarasewicz, specializing in applied photography, in the studio of Prof. Roslaw Szaybo at the Faculty of Media Art and Scenography at the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw. In 2011 she also graduated from the Academy of Film and Television, specialization: organization of television and film production. She has participated in numerous exhibitions, including: DyploMY 2011 exhibition - Bochenska Gallery, finalist exhibition of the Siemens Art Prize competition, Academy Salon 2011, group exhibition "Diffusion"- Museum of Architecture, Wroclaw, 2013, or finalist exhibition "41 Biennale of Painting Bielska Jesień", Bielska BWA Gallery, Bielsko Biala, 2013. I am inspired by modern urban space. In my painting I show contemporary architecture - both smaller and huge cities. However, I do not try to copy or faithfully reproduce reality. I focus on the solidity and geometry of the environment, and create abstract compositions inspired by real, concrete places I visit. I want to show the beauty of urban spaces and everything that surrounds me-streets, buildings, nature, people, or means of transportation-by geometrizing existing divisions and simplifying the form. The subjects of my paintings are specific objects or spaces - but out of context , unreal, unreal. The compositions are quite austere and flat, I pay most attention to colors, structures and rhythms, looking for the right harmony.
