Lot information
1845 pattern French officer's infantry saber, used in the period 1845-1918. The blade is ground on both sides, with a central back cut, made in the city of Châtellerault. There are remnants of the manufacturer's marking ("845") on the back of the blade, but the signature is mostly erased. Brass basket decorated with engravings, stamped number "5572", matching numbering on scabbard. Handle with black leather lining and wiring. The scabbard is metal, shows signs of use and was retrofitted probably during the First World War when the blade was coated. Dimensions
