The blade is curved, single-edged with a full spine and a longitudinal groove, typical of French military sabers of this era. The brass handle with a single trigger provides a firm grip, while the buttstock is massive and ensures the weapon's balance. The handle bar is stamped with acceptance marks, the crossbar is marked "109A" and the underside of the crossbar is marked "G 33"
