Studied at the Faculty of Painting of the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw in the studio of Prof. Artur Nacht-Samborski. He received his diploma in 1964.After graduation, he took an active part in artistic life. He was honored with numerous awards and prizes. The point of reference for his work is Polish art of the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries. However, the paintings created in the convention of realism are very difficult to define, specify or describe. The mastery of the workshop, the constant, delicate color palette, the symbolic representation of content, while keeping compositional elements to a minimum, and the painterly mysteriousness are the features that make no one pass indifferently by Janusz Lewandowski's paintings. Symbolism is intrinsically romantic and so are Janusz Lewandowski's paintings.
