An analysis of the relationship between the body structure of racing pigeons and their flight predispositions. The authors discuss the influence of selected morphological features, such as body shape, wings and musculature, on flight performance and efficiency.
Homing pigeons have been used in Poland as an auxiliary means of communication, especially in situations requiring independence from technical infrastructure. Their use is noted primarily in the military context and in the activities of organizations and breeding circles during the Partitions, World War I and the interwar period. In parallel, pigeon breeding developed, supported by associations, professional publications and flight competitions that popularized knowledge of their training and selection.
