A rare badge of the Małopolska Hunting Society in Lviv – one of the most important and oldest Polish hunting organizations.
The Society's history dates back to 1876 , when the Galician Hunting Society was founded in Lviv. The organization's goals were to develop modern hunting management, protect game, combat poaching, and promote the principles of hunting ethics.
After Poland regained independence, the Society continued its activities, and in 1920 changed its name to the Małopolska Hunting Society, headquartered in Lviv. The organization played a significant role in the integration of the Polish hunting community. It was during a congress of the Małopolska Hunting Society in Lviv in the early 1920s that the idea of establishing a joint, nationwide organization uniting existing hunting societies was first discussed.
The Society also conducted intensive publishing activities. Its press organ was "Łowiec," one of the most important Polish periodicals devoted to hunting, game management, and game conservation.
