"Gazeta Sądowa Warszawska" was published continuously in Warsaw from 1873 to 1939, and this 56th volume covers the period of the reborn Polish state. The journal, conceived as an information outlet for the legal community, had a long list of editors during that time: in the early years, it was edited by Wincenty Prokopowicz; in the 1880s, by Feliks Jeziorański; and in 1928, — Henryk Konic, who led it until 1933. The year 1928 was a special one for the legal community: on April 19, the founding meeting of the Society for the Promotion of Legal Knowledge took place, and Konic remained its president until his death; in 1934, Stanisław Śliwiński took over the position, and Jan Stanisław Konic, Henryk’s cousin, became the editor-in-chief. The pages of *Gazeta* now serve as source material for historical and legal research on the nineteenth-century and interwar legal culture of Warsaw. The year 1928 also marked the tenth anniversary of the restoration of independence and a period of intensive work on the codification of the law inherited from the three partitions—a backdrop that shaped the content of the professional press at the time.
Provenance: Stamps preserved on several pages indicate that the piece was previously in a library or institutional circulation; the specific institution remains unidentified. The yearbook, compiled and bound in cloth, reflects the library practice of consolidating issues of a periodical into a single, user-friendly volume.
This item is of interest to legal historians, researchers of the interwar justice system, and collectors of Polish professional periodicals from the interwar period.
The volume includes issues 13–53 of the yearbook (incomplete set). The block is intact; the paper is clean, with slight discoloration and soiling; aside from the aforementioned stamps, there are no other signs of tampering. The half-cloth binding is in good condition, with natural signs of wear.
