Rare issue of the Paul Sixtus 3 kreuzer, not often seen at auctions, especially in Poland.
Paul Sixtus von Trautson belonged to the influential Austrian aristocracy of the late 16th and early 17th centuries. In 1615, his minting rights were confirmed. He initially conducted minting operations at his Falkenstein Castle in Lower Austria, but following the outbreak of unrest, production was transferred to his residence in Vienna. Interestingly, authorization to mint in Vienna was intended to cover only the processing of the remaining silver from Falkenstein; nevertheless, Trautson continued to purchase silver and gold on a considerably larger scale and to strike his own coinage.
