Nicholas Christopher Radvila the Orphan was one of the most famous travellers and pilgrims of the Republic of the Two Nations. In his journey to Jerusalem, Egypt and the Holy Land, he described not only the places he visited but also his personal spiritual experiences and reflections. This work is considered one of the most significant travel accounts in the literature of the time. It reflects the piety, curiosity and desire to know the world of the Baroque period. The book is important as a testimony to the spiritual life and as a historical source for a better understanding of the culture of the pilgrim routes of the 17th century and of the European attitude towards the Middle East.
A very rare edition of Radvila the Orphan's Journey to Jerusalem.
