Russia(?) 19th century, Icon of the Care of the Mother of God - Pokrov Presvyvyatskaya Bohoroditsa,

The icon depicts Our Lady of Care hovering in the clouds and spreading a white omophorion over the faithful - a symbol of care and intercession. The lower part of the composition shows two figures of rulers/founders, depicted frontally, wearing rich robes and crowns, with their hands folded in a prayer gesture.

The composition is hieratic and symmetrical, with a clear division between the heavenly and earthly zones. The figure of Mary dominates the scene, shown in a mandorla of clouds, which emphasizes her role as Advocate. The painting style exhibits transitional characteristics between traditional icons and Western-influenced painting - soft facial modeling, greater illusion of space and a more naturalistic depiction of the figure are evident. Icons of this type were particularly popular in the Orthodox tradition depicting the expression of the Mother of God's care for the faithful and the community. The object has high collector and iconographic value.
