Cyncotype on arc. 8.9x4.8 cm. Coat of arms of Prussia I, below on ribbon motto "Labroa pro patria". Anonymous composition from the 4th quarter of the 19th century. In the upper part a handwritten inventory number. Exlibris removed from book, traces of glue, edge tear.
W. Wittyg (1857-1921) - "land reclamation engineer, entrepreneur, with a passion for archaeology and numismatics, bibliophile. Since 1889 an active member of the Numismatic Society in Cracow. He collected seals, numismatics, heraldry, varsaviana and exlibrises, and published works on each of these fields. He compiled the first Polish monograph of ex-librises from the 16th to the 20th centuries. 'Ex-librisy libraries of Poland', published in two volumes in 1903 and 1907. [...] The Wittyg Library was auctioned off in 1922. The ex-libris was printed on straw and white paper" (Podniesinska).
