Stanislaw Drozdz (1939, Slawkowo - 2009, Wroclaw).
Studied at the University of Wroclaw at the Faculty of Philology. Graduated from Polish Studies in 1964. Creator of visual poetry. His works are classified by critics as conceptualism, concrete poetry, he himself called them "concept-poems". - These are works on the borderline between poetry and visual arts. He created ascetic texts, not only devoid of ornament, but often reduced to a few, sometimes one word, letters, numbers, signs - he recorded them on paper, photography, computer printouts, spatial installations. Through a record that is minimal in content, the artist wants to evoke the maximum associative effect.
He has shown his works at the Foksal Gallery in Warsaw. He has worked with this gallery since 1971. He has participated in exhibitions of Polish conceptualism at the Center for Contemporary Art at Ujazdowski Castle in Warsaw, at the Gallery of Contemporary Art in Wroclaw, and at the Miejsce gallery in Cieszyn. Winner of the Nowosielski Foundation Art Prize - Krakow 2002. In 2003 his project "Bones were thrown" represented Poland at the 50th Venice Biennale.
