The print is a preparatory study (Étude pour "La Paix") for Picasso’s monumental work *Peace* (La Paix) from 1952, which forms a diptych with the painting “War” (La Guerre), located in the Chapel of Peace in Vallauris.
Before Picasso painted the final panels, he created an extensive series of over 250 drawings, sketches, and preparatory sketchbooks.
In them, Picasso explored various motifs symbolizing carefree joy and harmony: children dancing in a circle (ronde d’enfants), a family under a tree, a mother nursing a child, musicians, and the well-known symbol of the dove. The work (Ronde d’Enfants) is one of the sketches (studies) that make up this extensive preparatory series.
