The series of works by Pablo Picasso titled "347 engravings" is a collection of engravings created by the artist in a relatively short period of time, between March 16 and October 5, 1968. The works were first exhibited at Galerie Louise Leiris in Paris in late 1968 and early 1969.
Picasso, known for his many love affairs, created works characterized by great freedom and expression, and thematically oscillate around his favorite motifs: woman, sexuality, eroticism....
It constitutes a kind of graphic diary, in which day after day Picasso wrote down on a copper sheet his thoughts and emotions, which is a testimony to the extraordinary vitality of the 90-year-old Master.
The unique work in the history of engravings, the mastery of techniques ( lithography, etching, drypoint) used even simultaneously, almost with indifference to the medium, and the astonishing speed of creation establish Picasso's position as one of the greatest Artists of the 20th century.
The series of "347 engravings" was exhibited in Paris, the United States , in Rome, arousing much controversy.
Individual engravings from this collection sometimes appear at art auctions or in galleries. They can also be found in museum and private collections around the world. Due to their artistic and historical value, these works fetch high prices on the art market.
