Alfons Mazurkiewicz (Dusseldorf 1922 - Wroclaw 1975)- painter associated with the Wroclaw creative community. He completed his studies at the Academy of Fine Arts in Wroclaw in 1953. He founded the Wroclaw "Group X". Since 1964 he was a teacher at his alma mater. He participated in many exhibitions of Polish art at home and abroad. He created abstract compositions, in which he presented a dynamic vision of nature. His paintings are characterized by dense, almost relief-like painting matter forming wavy circles and forms filling the space of the canvas. On the 25th anniversary of the artist's death, the National Museum in Wroclaw, the BWA Awangarda Gallery and the Old Gallery in Lublin organized a large exhibition of Mazurkiewicz's works.
