(Nautilus Pompilius) mounted on an oval brass base, supported by a sculptural composition depicting a dolphin flanked by a cherub. The cherub, with one arm raised, holds an elongated, finely decorated element to which the nautilus shell is attached by a pin. A representative example of European production intended for collectors' items and cabinets of curiosities, it bears witness to great craftsmanship and attention to ornamental detail.
