Author of countless oil paintings, gouaches, tempera and watercolors inspired primarily by the Polish landscape. Over the years of her work, she has become a classic of a certain attitude characteristic of Polish post-war painting: close to post-impressionism, transposed to our artistic ground by the colorists, while at the same time operating with gesture, sign and matter similar to Tasist abstraction. Danuta Makowska was born in 1930 in Zabludow. She studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw at the Faculty of Painting and Graphics. She completed her diploma in 1955 in the studio of Tadeusz Kulisiewicz. Until 1974 she worked at the Painting Department, among others, cooperated with Tadeusz Dominik. Since 1975, she led the painting studio at the Faculty of Conservation and Restoration of Works of Art. In 1996, she became a full professor. She was a scholarship holder of the Danish government. She has many exhibitions, awards and national decorations to her credit.
