Vanellus Vineyard
Since 2005, about 2 hectares
Jaslo
The history of the Vanellus winery dates back to 2004, when Mr. and Mrs. Czajka were treated to one of the wines then being made in the Jaslo area. The wine must have been truly remarkable, because inspired by its taste and glimpses of the local land's potential, the heroes of this story decided to plant their own vines. The adventure continues to this day.
The vineyard is located near Jaslo, and the crop is situated on a clay slope facing southeast. The name Vanellus comes from the Latin translation of the word Czajka, the owners' last name. Also Latin are the names of the individual labels, which, arranged in order, lead us along the line "from dawn to night." Two landmarks worth remembering are the great reviews Vanellus wines received at the first public tasting at the winemakers' convention in Jaslo, and the 2016 vintage, which was the first to go on sale. The winery continues to refine its wines, using increasingly mature vines. It is also one of those producers who are heavily focused on oenotourism. Together, winemakers operating in the Jaslo region create an extremely interesting offer for wine lovers following the trail of their favorite vineyards.
Noctis (Night) is a red offering from Vanellus Vineyard, based on a blend of rondo, regent and cabernet cortis varietals. The 2015 vintage is included, aged in oak barrel for 12 months. The last bottle from the harvest, with the vintage hand-written, as the producer did not apply for certification of the varietal and vintage at the time. The set also includes the 2021 vintage of this wine. Both vintages are no longer available for purchase from the producer.
