The Plochocki winery enjoys a long history and an unequivocally good reputation. Mr. and Mrs. Plochocki, Barbara and Marcin, took their first steps among the vines in the Subcarpathian region, where they purchased land for cultivation. At the time, they were involved in winemaking on weekends, living permanently in Warsaw. The huge distance to travel from home to the vineyard made them start looking around for alternatives. What caught their eye was a beautiful southern slope located on loess soils, which they found in the Świętokrzyskie village of Daromin. This place eventually became their winemaking and true home and the stage for a fantastic strand of Polish winemaking.
Barbara and Marcin Plochocki today live permanently in Daromin and devote themselves fully to their vineyard work. They work on 7 hectares with about 20 varieties - the willingness to experiment and seek new expressions for their wines is inexhaustible with them. The Plochocki family are Polish pioneers in the use of many winemaking techniques, but they were also among the first to cope with formalizing cultivation and production in the face of completely unsuitable Polish regulations and authorities.
The family's vineyards grow both vilis vinifera and hybrid varieties. Noble varieties are represented here by riesling, pinot noir, traminer, muscat and chardonnay, and hybrid solaris, johanniter and hibernal (of the most important ones).
The most distinctive and considered by many to be the best wines of Plochocki Vineyard are Qvevri and Inspira Volcano. Each is related to the producer's wine experience and alludes to their travels and meetings with winemakers. Qvevri is the first Polish wine created using the Kakheti method (long maceration of white grapes in Georgian amphorae), while Inspira Volcano refers to wines made in the extremely interesting Somlo region of Hungary. Both demonstrate the almost extraordinary potential of hybrids to create unique wines.
Riesling and Pinot Noir are the most important wines based on vitis vinifera. Both varietals are very easily influenced by their habitat, so completely unique interpretations of these varietals come from Plochocki Vineyard. The image of the Daromin habitat is reflected in each of them, and each is among the top Polish wines based on these varieties.
